Top 5 Safest Vehicles On The Road

Safety is a very important factor for anyone buying an automobile and people are always searching for the safest vehicles to protect their loved ones. With the increasing population and the number of cars that are available in the market, more accidents can take place in a day. Regardless of how safe you are as a driver, the risk of getting into an unfortunate event would always be there. Nonetheless, drivers still have their hopes high because unlike before, there are more cars that put a premium on their safety features.

Below is a list of the safest cars in 2017 so far as determined by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The IIHS based their study on the number of deaths per million registered vehicle years. One registered vehicle year is equivalent to one year that one car is registered. This was done so that there would be a standard for the varying number of car models bought and used on the road.

For 2017, the safety standards set by the IIHS included (1) passing five crash tests, (2) getting an advanced or excellent rating for front crash technology, and (3) having a good rating for headlights.
