Fatal Boynton Crash Leaves 3 Dead and Opens Door to Legal Claims

A crash in Boynton Beach, Florida (down the street from our office) on Sunday has left three people dead, roadways closed off to traffic, and the Palm Beach community scarred by the tragic accident, which highlights the true dangers of reckless driving.

According to the initial reports from witnesses and others at the scene, the driver of a silver Ford was speeding north on Military Trail near Woolbright Road early Sunday afternoon, when he lost control of his car, hit an Acura head-on, and went flying over the roadway before igniting and becoming engulfed in flames. By the time that fire rescue workers were able to extinguish the fire, the driver, allegedly the negligent actor in the crash, was already dead.

As for the Acura, the two women inside the vehicle have also died as a result of the accident. While one died instantly from the impact of the collision, the second was rushed to Delray Medical Center for treatment; unfortunately, though, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The crash was so disastrous that it closed down both the north and southbound lanes of Military between Golf Road and Piper’s Glen Boulevard for roughly six hours, allowing police time to investigate the crash and fire crews time to clean up.

Our personal injury lawyers know that just because the people involved in the crash have died, the suffering has not ended – not by a long shot. These people all had families who loved them, cared for them or were cared for by them, and who depended on them. The law, as we know, will provide an avenue by which the victims’ families can try to obtain compensation for their horrific losses.

In a typical auto accident case in which an individual has sustained injuries or has even died due to the negligent or reckless driving of another, the victim or their family files a claim against the reckless driver and/or the insurance company deemed liable. In this case, however, the allegedly reckless driver of the Ford, who according to witnesses caused the accident, has passed away. As our Boynton Beach attorneys know, while his family will rightly mourn the loss of a loved one, the fact remains that, according to all the evidence available at the moment, the auto accident would not have happened had he not been speeding in the manner he was, presumably driving so fast that he lost control of his vehicle.

In instances such as these, in addition to making claims against a liable insurance company, those who have suffered from a wrongful death of a loved one, as the families of the victims who were in the Acura seemingly have, can make a claim against the Estate of the deceased negligent individual. Essentially, any and all of the assets of the negligent individual comprise his estate, which can have claims made against it by creditors, etc., and those who have a legal claim for a personal injury or wrongful death.

In the aftermath of incidents like these, it is crucial for the family or families of the deceased individuals to properly mourn the loss of their loved ones. They shouldn’t have to worry about how to afford a funeral, etc., or make up for lost income of the victim. Our experienced Boynton Beach, Palm Beach County personal injury law firm has successfully handled disastrous cases such as these in the past, and we know that one of the most important things a grieving family can do, to make sure that they have the ability to mourn as they wish, is retain legal counsel to handle the legal consequences of this terrible accident.
